What Types of Block Paving Is There?
Block paving is a versatile and durable option for any driveway, patio or hard-standing area. Available in a wide variety of colours.
Block Paving Styles
All of the block paving products we use on our driveway and patio areas, are sourced from high quality suppliers such as Kilsaran, Tobermore and on occasion, Barleystone. They aal manufacture the same styles of paving products.
We use different manufacturers because some of our customers prefer one type of colour variation over another when we are providing colour samples.
The most common types of block paving products are: (in no particular order)
- Standard block paving (200mm x 100mm)
- Tegula paving (upto 3 sizes, can be mixed / matched)
- Cobblestones (available in multiple sizes, most common size is (100mm x 100mm)
- Permeable paving (available as a Tegula style, lismore and standard block paving sizes)
- Corrib ( 210mm x 170mm)
- Lismore (available in upto 3 sizes, can be mixed / matched)
An example of variations used for similar products is that Tobermore calls their standard paving option Pedesta, while Kilsaran calls their option Slane and Barleystone use Larchfield. Of note, however, these cannot be generally matched with each other as each manufacturer uses a different spacer style, so they are not compatible.
The biggest difference between these variations is the colour as each manufacturer provides a different variation.
Depth of the paving is generally the same, with options for 50mm, 60mm and 80mm. The 50mm is more than suitable for any driveway while the 80mm is designed for commercial roadways.
